Product & Condition
Are these cables new or refurbished?
Every cable is new in box, factory sealed with original NVIDIA Mellanox packaging. These are not refurbished, open-box, or compatible substitute cables. They are genuine OEM units that have never been installed or used.
Are these genuine NVIDIA Mellanox cables or third-party compatible?
These are genuine NVIDIA Mellanox OEM cables — the exact same part numbers sold by authorized resellers like Colfax Direct, Connection.com, and Provantage. They are not third-party compatible cables. This matters because NVIDIA Quantum HDR switches perform firmware-level cable authentication, and genuine OEM cables are required to pass BER certification and avoid firmware warnings.
What is the difference between the -V and -E suffix variants?
The -V suffix (e.g., MFS1S00-H050V) indicates the VPI (Virtual Protocol Interconnect) version, which supports both InfiniBand HDR and 200GbE simultaneously on the same cable. The -E suffix (e.g., MFS1S00-H050E) is Ethernet-only. All cables in our inventory are the -V (VPI) variants, giving you maximum flexibility for dual-protocol deployments.
What does EOL mean for the H090V and H035V?
NVIDIA issued End-of-Life (EOL) notices for the MFS1S00-H090V and MFS1S00-H035V in March 2022. This means NVIDIA no longer manufactures these variants. Our new-in-box stock represents last-time-buy inventory. The cables are fully functional and supported — EOL only means no new production. If you are running existing HDR infrastructure that requires these lengths, securing stock now is strongly recommended.
Compatibility & Technical
What switches are compatible with these cables?
The QSFP56 variants (H035V–H100V) are compatible with: NVIDIA QM8700, QM8790 (HDR InfiniBand switches), QM9700, QM9790 (NDR switches in HDR port mode), MSB7800-ES2F/R, MSB7890-ES2F/R (HDR spine switches). The H035V uses QSFP28 connectors — verify your switch port type before ordering.
What NICs (host adapters) are compatible?
Compatible ConnectX adapters include: MCX653106A-HDAT, MCX653105A-HDAT, MCX653106A-ECAT, MCX653105A-ECAT, MCX653106A-HCAT, MCX654105A-HCAT (ConnectX-6 HDR). Also compatible with ConnectX-7 adapters in HDR mode. For a full compatibility list, refer to the NVIDIA MFS1S00-HxxxV product documentation.
Can these cables be used for 200GbE (Ethernet) as well as InfiniBand?
Yes. All -V suffix cables support VPI (Virtual Protocol Interconnect), meaning they operate as both InfiniBand HDR 200G and 200GbE simultaneously. The protocol is negotiated at the switch/adapter level — the same physical cable works for both.
What is the maximum reach for these active optical cables?
The MFS1S00 family supports up to 100 meters over OM3 multimode fiber. The MFS1S00-H100V is the maximum-reach variant. Beyond 100 meters, you would need fiber patch panels with separate QSFP56 transceivers. All cables in our inventory are within the 35m–100m range.
